Abdulaziz Al Sulaiti chose to attend Syracuse for its diverse student body, many opportunities for personal and professional growth, and Orange spirit.

His favorite memory so far was during the 2016 NCAA Basketball tournament. “Everyone came together to celebrate the success of SU’s men and women basketball teams,” he says. “The campus and surrounding areas were loud and you could hear the students shouting “Let’s go Orange!”

After spending one year at Syracuse University, Abdulaziz is confident he made the right decision. “I can definitely say that it is a ‘melting pot’ where different cultures, races, religions, beliefs, political ideologies, etc. all become a harmonious whole, united by the common culture of Orange Nation,” says Abdulaziz. “It will definitely be the best four years of your life! Just don’t forget your winter gear!”

To get involved in campus life, he decided to join Student Association during his first semester and ran for a seat in the Judicial Review Board. In his second semester, Abdulaziz became the JRB Chair. “You get to learn how decisions are made within the Student Association and the University, and how the decisions you make can make a difference,” he says. “I’m truly honored to be serving the Student Association and the student body as their JRB Chair, it’s a position I take pride in. I strive to make the environment for my fellow students a better and enjoyable place.”

After graduation, Abdulaziz plans to attend graduate school to complete an MPA/MPP program and then work in the public sector, where he hopes to be the voice of the underrepresented minorities and everyone else.
