Zar Ahmad '21

Zar Ahmad '21  A rising junior in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, Zarnigar is majoring in Aerospace Engineering and minoring in Mathematics and    Psychology. Zar was born in Pakistan and moved to the Middle East as a kid.  She grew up wanting to go abroad to study and experience independence. She has always been passionate about space and aspires to be an astronaut someday.

 Zar heard about Syracuse University through a friend, and after some research she found out about the university’s diverse culture, remarkable   academic, and beautiful campus. Since her time on campus, she has been serving as a Connections Mentor for the Center of International Services and working closely with incoming international students. She says “being a mentor for international students has allowed me to meet students with various backgrounds and not only just learn but experience their culture including food, music and festivals.” She is also an Academic Excellence Workshop Facilitator for the school of ECS where she assists students with engineering courses. Furthermore, Zar serves on the E-board of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and also works as an Undergraduate Researcher. After graduation, Zar hopes to get her master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering as well as her pilot’s license.

Zarnigar is grateful for all the opportunities provided by the school that has allowed her to grow both personally and academically. She had the opportunity to meet people from all around the world. She says “the culture here is amazing and the orange spirit is unbelievable especially during sports games. I haven’t seen this much unity, love and support anywhere else and I am proud to be a part of this orange family.  You’ll have wonderful experiences at Syracuse university, create lifelong friends and amazing memories.”
